How we tested it.

BESS-certified sharpness tester

A BESS-certified sharpness tester. It measures the grams of force it takes for the edge to cut a test wire.

  • 100 a new razor blade
  • 500+ the chart says dull
  • 1,600 needs a professional regrind

A fillet knife, out on the boat. Step by step.

  1. 1

    The knife is blunt

Won't get through 25 mm jute rope.

  2. 2

    On the tester: 1,600

The chart calls that "needs a professional regrind".

  3. 3

    Sharpened with the Kimbo

Magnetic block, 10 passes a side. A few minutes, on the esky lid.

  4. 4

    On the tester again: 145

    Razor-blade range.

  5. 5

    Now it cuts

    Straight through the same rope.

Kimbo Rolling Sharpener

Loved by 100k+ happy customers. Tap to watch.

Reckon I've gone through half a dozen dodgy sharpeners. Kimbo's the real deal. Few minutes and the blade's like new. Chef's knife, filleting blade, even the old camping one.

N.D, verified buyer

I've never had my knives this sharp, this fast. Incredibly easy to use.

R.J, verified buyer

Amazed at how easy it was to put some sharpness back on those blades. Have since thrown out all other knife sharpeners.

Does it actually work?

That's what the test above is for. Same knife, same tester, before and after. Every knife we've measured went from "dull" to razor-blade range in a few minutes.

Will it work on my knives?

Any straight-edge knife: chef's, santoku, paring, cleaver, fillet, hunting, pocket. Not serrated bread knives or scissors.

Which angle do I use?

20° for Western and supermarket knives, 15° for Japanese knives. The block also has 10° and 25°. Unsure? 20°.

How is it different from a pull-through sharpener?

A pull-through scrapes metal off at whatever angle you happen to hold. The Kimbo locks the angle with a magnet, so every pass hits the same spot. That's why the edge lasts.

How much pressure?

Light. The weight of your hand is enough. Pushing harder doesn't sharpen faster, it just wears the disc.

How often do I need to sharpen?

A home kitchen knife: every few weeks, ten passes a side. Once it's sharp, a quick pass on the ceramic side keeps it there.

How long does the diamond disc last?

1,000+ knives for a home kitchen. Replacement discs click in. The sharpener itself you never replace.

What's in the box?

The rolling sharpener (diamond side and ceramic side), the magnetic angle block and a gift box. The Ultimate Set adds a chef's knife, a leather strop and a display stand.

What's the guarantee?

90 days. Try it on every knife you own. Not happy, send it back for a full refund, no questions asked.
